L'Estartit is a little town situated in Costa Brava, in the north west coast of Spain. It is part of the province of Girona. In the past, L'Estartit used to be a fishing town, but since 1960 it has become a popular touristic destination during the summer months. L'Estartit ‘s beaches offer three areas: Pletera beach, Centro beach and Griells beach.
The waters of the area are home of a great variety of marine species. L’Estartit is a diving paradise both for professionals and beginners. The well-known Medas Island natural reserve is one of the most visited places for diving.
Most Popular dives in L’Estartit (Medas Island)
It is an archipelago located in the Mediterranean Sea and it consists of seven little islands or islets in front of Costa Brava. This place has a marine bottom which has the benefit of being very close to the mouth of the Ter river. The Salpatxot is an area well preserved from the south winds, the dive is in the northeast part of Meda Gran. It is a shallow place (5 to 25 meters).
El Medellot: Wall dive. This dive consists in going around the islet and, in this way, reduce the depht as you move forward.
La Cova de la Vaca: They are a group of cavities with very good light. An ideal place for submarine photography.
