Saint George is Grenada’s capital. The town and the landscape surrounding it, is probably the most picturesque part of the whole island. The traditional Grenadian town is full of lovely reed-roofed houses and its amazing harbor is worth a visit. Grenada has many peaceful beaches, but the most popular is the Grand Anse Beach near St. George which is considered to be one of the finest beaches in the world.
Diving around St. George and Grenada in general is more than adventurous and mostly famous for its great wreck diving possibilities. An Italian luxury liner, the Bianca C , burned and sank just outside the St. George Harbour in 1961. It is now encrusted with corals and is not only the largest but is also considered the prize site in the Caribbean. Molinere Bay is home to one of Jason de Caire Taylor’s Underwater Sculpture Park .
After two strong hurricanes in 2004, many parts of the reef around Molinere Bay were destroyed. In 2006 the underwater park opened with over 75 sculptures, installed underwater and now serving as artificial reefs.
