Protaras is located along the sandy coastline of Cyprus's Fig Tree Bay. This glorious beach is also the main attraction. Protaras has something to offer for any kind of taste. While the southern area around the Fig Tree Bay offers a great variety of water-sports and other activities, the northern part of the coastline is calmer, making it great to just relax or go snorkeling. For those who like to explore, Protaras offers many caves and unique rock formations around the coastline, where photographers can surely take some great shots.
Protaras offers the most dive sites in Cyprus. All dive sites on the east coast of Cyprus are easily accessible from the shore without having to pay boat charges. It has a beautiful variety of underwater creatures, and lots of colorful fishes to offer. Many of the dive sites offer walk-in diving. Especially interesting is the wreck dive of the Zenobia Wreck. The 40 meters long, complete ship is now home to a multitude of fish and invertebrates. The quieter beach at Konnos Bay has lots of small coves to offer and its coastline and waters are mostly unspoiled.
