Bridgetown is the island´s largest city and capital, famous for its port and ideal starting point to go diving in Barbados. In addition to cruise ships and duty-free shopping, the only city of Barbados is known for its tropical wet and dry climate. Although generally hot, Bridgetown is cooled by the winds which give a very relaxing atmosphere.
Located in the parish of Saint Michael, Bridgetown is commonly referred to as “Town” or “The City”. The city sits on a drained swamp and the Careenage and Constitution River runs through it. This provides the city with direct access for yachts and small boats.
